Snow above Vancouver and gorgeous views
For those who love snow and skiing Vancouver has a pretty cool setting. This was Winter 2008-2009 something else. That is under normal circumstances the town is cold but not too much or no snow.
While a 15min drive up Mount Seymour, Mount Cypress the La Di Da area near West Vancouver ( where big money lives ) or take the Gondola up Grouse Mountain and you are in winter wonderland. Here are a few links to take you to the occasions. See you there anywhere on the freshly groomed snow slopes of Vancouver average temperature around 0C. Fantastic view over downtown and to Mount Baker in USA with sunshine. Not so great when foggy but then which slope anywhere in the world is great under the wrong weather.
http://www.mountseymour.com the provincial park where no Olympics event will be held, why who knows...although the setting is great for boarding and http://www.cypressmountain.com/index.asp where some events will be held...and a huge media center building is being build for this event , we can only guess that someone had stronger connections there. Why else as Mount Seymour has the utmost stunning view over the whole of the lower mainland ;-) anything but Cypress.
Naturally there is Whistler with its unique peak to peak Gondola with a glass bottom but its a 2-3 hrs drive away and a much deeper drive into your wallet. http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com
