Golden Ear Park
This park has several section one reaches it after an average drive of one hour from Vancouver. The roads are good and not too busy if one avoids the early arrivals. The lake is huge and has several camps like "Alouette" . Canadians like to spend the week end in the forest in their tents, caravans, RV which range from a normal pick up truck to a house on wheels. You need a V8 the least to say to pull the around the block :-). Wlking hiking exploring all done on path or in the wilderness. Bring all your tools as there is nothing bu the appointed paid for rented spot where you will make your home for a day , week end or week . Pre booking required, especially if you have a favorite spot. The forest is lush very green overgrown extensively with soft moss and sudden under grass estuary of water trickling down the hills making it very wet at times but creating lovely pools of very green luscious leaves . When on a hot day like this entering the forest makes one realize the freshness of the air that can drop considerably . I have encountered some unusual micro climates in the middle of the forest where suddenly some very warm wind drift raises the temperature considerably by a very noticeable amount of degrees to the air temperature near the shores of the lake. Where swimming is not for the faint hearted. Temperture average 8-12C but it seems the locals have that hardiness that it takes to takle these temperatures for a holiday water skiing paddling around on air mattresses. I rather keep it all to my camera lens. You can bring your pet as long as he/she is on a leash. We saw this rare and novel mix of a dachshund with turquoise eyes with the colors of an Husky...the cutest thing that will set you back 1500$ ....
