Barnet Beach Park along Barnet highway
Very close to town at the outskirts near Burnaby this small beach park its a fast reached refuge of the noises of the town. It has a BBQ park and a few beaches along the coast the offer quaint settings on gravel like sand or small rocks. The remains of an old wooden boat slowly disintegrating in the 4-8C water add some sot of history to the otherwise very banal place. The water is crystal clear and looking at what grows or shows in it is always fun to catch the right focus. You can get some sort of privacy behind some big rock for those loving beach romance. They only will be seen by who cruises by. Do not get scared when suddenly are awoken of any dreamy moment by the noise 50- 100 meters behind you of the rattling of a usually very long train will call you back to reality. They are either the west coast commuter trains that runs into town in the morning and out of town in the afternoon. The transport trains that can be sometimes up to 150 wagons of coal, grain and other long distance commodities that have to reach the interior of Canada pass there occasionally, so please look when crossing the rails as there are only written warnings. On our way back we were surprised by a " we thought lost & stranded baby seal". After calling the animal protection services on my cell phone as the little bugger did not want to be transferred to lie still in a towel we had , we were teld not to stress as the mother seals often leave their babies for up to eight hours while they go hunting for food for themselves and their baby. He was cute and posed for a picture as you can see.
