The Botancial Gardens at Pamplemousse
The Botanical gardens at Pamplemousse are really a wonderful site. They are very green very lush. Maybe I was not there in the right time but do not expect seas of flowers. Its plants, trees, bushes, palms,. They have the amazing giant waterlillies that they say could hold a baby sitting on one. They look as interesting from the bottom than the top when the wind blows them over. These gardens were the private gardens of the French Governor. Do not miss the cimetery next to it where some of the early settlers and travel survivors ware buried. Amazing carved scriptures. I am Austrian and found across there the most delicious Viennes cafe with Sacher Torte . What a treat in the middle of the tropics. The owner speaks German and worked/studied in Europe. Enjoy these gardens are very much worth the excursion plan a whole day, its big and you don't want to rush. Bring your drink as there is nothing inside to quensh your thirst.
