Maui Hawaii Pacific Ocean
So many beautiful words have been said about Hawaii. So here as one picture tells a thousand words, is a whole book in five hundred pictures. Follow the journey from landing over Honolulu Owahu onto island hopping to Maui with a big colorful flying bird. We lived in a small suite with a Lanai and private BBQ We went to the "Little Makena beach" every day.. It's a clothing optional beach so we spare you the detailed shots and keep it to the sunsets and some general scenes. But let me tell you if you want to feel free, happy, natural, totally relaxed in a real nature oriented mixed crowd this is the place. Here people are just people. They don't care where you come from, what are your believes. They just care for you to be happy in the moment and join in the positive, holistic, generous, multi racial and PEACEFUL feeling.
The coral reef are visited by humongous amounts of fish 20m from the beach and the occasional tortoises, dolphins or seal. The Makena cloud coming down every day from the Volcano reminds you it is there and makes stunning patterns against the sun. A trip to the lush and green Hana on the other side of the island is part of the stay. A three hours "non stop" curved road takes you there. Be patient, stop a lot, do NOT attempt to overtake as the road is not made for that. One mistake and the cliffs are an average of 1000feet down to the sea. Hana is gorgeous. Do not miss walking up to the waterfall long a path in Bamboo forests and other exotic trees. If you can stay a night there as one day is not enough to do it all if one needs to drive home. We were told by the locals that the night drive is more safe as at least one could see the cars coming from the opposite direction with their headlights on.I really thought so after following their advise as In the daytime the curves are always full of surprises. We stayed clear of the main town that we only visited on the day of departure. Cute full of shopping of all the "necessary unnecessary" souvenirs from 1 $ to 50.000 $ for all tastes. I enjoyed most the Art Gallery of Lassen and bought the book as the Art is unaffordable. Try not to miss it. He favors to play with creatures of the sea Whales Dolphins fish coral and sunlight and some fluo paint that makes the painting glow at night ...quite extra ordinary. Mahalo.
