Vancouver East Side Culture Crawl 2009 two days visit : First a warm "Welcome" to all Art Crawlers in the know, the new comers and especially those who did not have the chance to attend this utmost creative event. I hope this website will hopeful entice you to come in person to the 2010 crawl and enjoy the warm ambiance yourself. I presume it will be around November I do not know the date yet.
THE FOLLOWING PICTURES ARE NOT FOR SALE!
If you like this Art report you should not miss last years CRAWL 2008 at this URL http://bit.ly/1A3KiA
To download your respective photo send me an e-mail with your Artist name and numbers of your Art pictures in my gallery and I will reply to you with direction to the password protected private mirror copy galley (not this URL for those not familiar with the term). .and give you a one time password. Your e-mail should match the one I have on your name card, that I collected during the event. This is just to keep out impostors. Thank you for your understanding as this is a model release and copyright issue. The news media is also welcome to contact me.
My galleries purpose is to inform the Vancouver and World community what they may have missed and encourage them to go to the next crawl and support the amazing Vancouver East Culture Crawl. This report gallery is also dedicated to the many Artists who mentioned that being tied down to their studio for the duration of the Crawl. This gallery gives them a free opportunity to see for themselves what their fellow Artist have shown. Thank you and enjoy!
First I'd like to thank all the Artists, who's creative work I shown here, for their warm welcome this year. It was so nice that most of you (98% that is) made me feel instantly welcome knowing or not that my exercise here is to promote their work and nothing else. I do understand that some had requested photo restriction for clearly explained timely copyright reasons and as you can see I did respect them, I look forward seeing the amazing new gold DJ booth and the book with the magical painting that were like a ticket to another world and wish the ones who recognize themselves in this mention much success for their creativity. You may notice that some photos and macro close ups may not be 100% in focus, the lightening not being ideal, the speed of taking them within the crowd may just be one of the many reasons, therefor I thank you for your understanding. We are not here to reproduce your art to perfection but to raise awareness and attract visitors or inquiries with the artists next year or by appointment.
For the two other two % my Artist point of view was bruised, hey I bruise easily :-). A duo of charming Artist showing very pretty mixed media, not welcomed photos of their studio warm ambiance, but instead invited me to photograph their Studios entrance "Door". Sorry I don't do doors. :-) This Crawl is about Art, content and the feeling of the ambiance and not doors leading to it. Sad as your Art was utmost delicate. I am sure many who have not discovered it, would have liked to see the statement of photo of your studio would have made within the viewing community. I find that in 2009 Artists still considering a camera reporter as someone on the path of intellectual theft should wake up to reality .
Considering the weather that was not on our side this year, we got our map as always at "The Kettle Friendship Society " gallery with work presented by some of the more needy persons in our community. I was struck by the already sold (BRAVO) President Obama portrait. I am sure he would love it. We then hit Parker Studio due to the rain that made house hopping not an option could contemplate.
Forgive me you there in your individual studios. Last year I discovered Parker in my last hours I needed to reverse the pattern to get another grip of the Crawl. Sunday was luckier as the rain gave us a brake and we did everything around the "Keefer & Heatley street " area.
Again as stated last last year I would like to say, two full weekend days and a Friday night sure aren't enough to spend "quality time" at each studio/gallery. To report on it, inspire more visitors next time is what is my thrive for this memorable event. I tried as much as I could to have a short conversation with each Artist, to avoid simply snapping away amidst guests and visitors and possibly looking like a thief of ideas/inspiration.
Again, even in this more challenging period of 2008-09, I was mesmerized at the huge amount of creativity harbored in East Vancouver and wish great success to all participants for 2010 and look forward meeting you all again. Next year I will sure try to make my way to new destinations like the ARC. Will "still" try to get a link from the original crawl website.
You dear Artists are most welcome to place your own comment under your Art photos by placing your Name and Studio name and address and a link to YOUR personal website.
(I greatly appreciate as your recognition for my participation to re-link to this gallery from your site.) We naturally also welcome comment of anyone just visiting.
After a while when all participants can recognize their work have placed their names that would make it very interesting.
I do sincerely apologize to those not listed as I was unable to see all. This being our 2nd Crawl I still feel frustrated to the short time frame that makes seeing it all impossible.
Next time I will know the sites better and hopefully be able to zoom through all of them.
PS: You may have noticed that there are some shots that simply depict the environment, houses, nature, plants encountered on the Crawl I hope you enjoy these also.
I would like to outline the facts and Art that have impressed and surprised me. Inquiring with Artists making truly world class craftsmanship about where and how well they have been shown and seen in Design magazines etc. Many stated they have not been shown in any magazine, they can't afford any marketing or agent or produce but have not sold anything as they are not "visible" to the public but in this Crawl. Vancouver how sad it this.
PS: I welcome anyone to call me for photography services to help them "expose their Art" . I will make myself available at no cost if necessary, to assist you in taking your Art beyond the your walls of your studio and maybe bringing them online. Several of you have inquired if I would take photos at their convenience. Yes I do with great pleasure, just send me an e-mail that is at the bottom of this page.

PUBLIC Fashion Design Portfolio : Thank you for visiting the "digital online version" of my Fashion, Apparel, textile and print Portfolio. My international career brought it to the physical weight of 35kg/70 pounds. Lucky I had to carry it to only to a few interviews in my life. Head Hunters and constant networking kept job hunting to a minimum. The content is only a small amount of all the designs on paper that passed under my hand in my career before the saving digital content became easy to store. Starting with running the Atelier YSL Rive Gauche in Brussels where unfortunatly I was not allowed to photograph all the dresses and suits made to size spec with patterns from Paris. With my work then brands followed her is a short list in no particular order: Camp Italy, Designo, Rebook, Edelweiss, Walt Disney, OK pres du Corp, Zip code Jeans, Smith & York, Oates, Rebel, Aca Joe USA, Peter Golding, Macy's, La Rinacente Italy, Safarika and many more. I added areas such as the architectural work for down products, tents, sleeping bags and bags in the mountaineering and outdoors sectors with the early years of Gortex and Torray fabrics. Beside overseeing all the pattern making, fitting, print and graphics, textile print, hang tags, labeling fabric sourcing etc to see other areas of my Design expertise mentioned here visit _. http://www.visualsenses.com the "Visual Senses Design Group" website

2009 Renfrew Ravin Moon Festival Vancouver BC : As a 1st time visitor it was truly worthwhile. The ambiance although started slowly at Slocan Park went into a full action swing around 5pm. Some really funny and price winning sized veggies were on display and community informative stalls were present and helpful for all sorts of random questions. Kids of all ages including me had fun. Outstanding sacred artwork "leather garmentry" made by by Copper Chris I was told http://people.tribe.net/copperchris (check out his site ABSOLUTELY amazing craftmanship) were worn by a sacred and very smiley Robin of the woods dispensing good forest omen from hist stilts with his witch like wife both complementing each other very well. The love songs and dance for bicycles were most entertaining and all that movement made us hungry. So we went on for the ever delicious and light and tasty buckwheat crepes that always are made to nice African music by the French chef and his team in their caravan. We then strolled along 29th to see a Heritage house and a few pretty gardens before wondering into the "Renfrew Ravine park". Surely a very natural site although I would say quite jungle like and maybe not so recommended for late night walks. We discovered the apotheosis of the event when an army of young boys and girls started lighting the path along the lovely flowing creek to discover a multitude of lanterns of all shapes and sizes. From the cute, whimsical to the scary all this at the sound of life Balinesian Gamelan music and later Chinese Erhu and violin.
Thanks to the community for a great time. This said, maybe next year would the organizers agree that few appropriate Asian food stalls would be welcome to feed more than the soul and attract more visitors eager for foreign customs and traditions.
I here copy a lists crediting all the participants taken from http://stillmoon.org/ the official site.

Your Bio

I had the privilege to live and work in Europe, Asia, USA, Africa and now Canada. Places I have lived, studied, worked are: Lumumbashi DRC, St.Johann/Tirol Austria, Brussels Belgium, Paris France, Tunis Tunisia, Kushadasi Turkey, Marbella Spain, Ibiza & Marbella Spain, Aegios Konstantinos Greece, Milan Italy, Munich Germany, Hong Kong SAR China PRC, London UK, New York USA, Johannesburg South Africa, Vancouver Canada.
As a Laureate pattern maker, Fashion & Interior Designer I trained at YSL in Paris. Lately I have added Architectural Design to my passions. I also love landscaping, product & car Design...where do I stop? I design uniforms for 5 star Hotels and Airlines worldwide and have some of the best in the world on my resume from Beverly Hills, New York to Hong Kong. I work a lot in PS and 3DMax, always learning.

Since the birth of digital photography, my main (not so secret) passion is becoming more and more of importance to my main career. It has grown to be the cross platform between all medias.

http://www.visualsenses.com is the Design I do 24/7. Even when I sleep, my mind created and if/when I am lucky to wake up with the idea fresh in my mind I sketch it quick on my iPAQ. It keeps my mind on the go.
As an Ex Design Director for "Conran Design London" (Sir Terance Conran, Habitat, The Conran stores, Jacadi, BHS, Mothercare, do those ring a bell?) molded my brain into multifaceted, tasking, cross continental creative power house. At times people may think he is a Jack of all Designs, but I believe Design has no boundaries as long as the client believes in my creativity and are impressed by my Portfolio. Cross platform creativity is a like a drug, but photography is the media that always takes me back to sanity.

I love Architecture, Skyscrapers, reflections, flowers and many more subjects such as Macro, sunsets, yachts, classic Cars (especially chrome details), glass, flea markets, travel, beaches with or without clothes.
I am an "ANGLE" shooter. I think strong parallels, perpendiculars raise the focal interest of a picture.

Since my last paper film camera a big "Canon". I have owned and climbed the ladder of every digital "Olympus" since the 1.2mega pixel to my current 8080 and now wait for Santa to drop in with a 24 Megapixel lol. I wrote the letter...still waiting.Last but not least I adore my baby camera "Samsung NV10" 10megapixel (especially for quality Macros). Do not shun the brand for a camera. I recommend it to anyone in search for a super compact(cigarette pack sizes) digital camera that truly works wonders.

Languages I speak are English, French, German, Dutch, and rusty Italian, Spanish, Afrikaans and adore Mandarin especially in music. I love every cm2 the world offers to my eyes. OK I admit, and, anything and anyone that attracts my attention by being, stunning, extraordinary or plane ordinary, texture, cool, cute, smiling, sad, cats, dogs, landscapes.

I think Design should always be written with a capital "D" as not enough credit is given to the word describing our profession. I enjoy documenting as much as possible of my life. I respect people of older age as they teach me what I may still have to learn and can teach them what they may have missed. I hold 300.000 photos and scanned my whole family since the mid 1800 and I am NEVER without a camera! Parts of my heart are to be found in Africa, Asia and America and if you have seen my writers block contact "lost & found" I love to help, listen and communicate and the greatest of all I can say I have loved someone who loved me for 90% of my adult life.
Thank you for reading this far.
My motto is "Since there is Light there is Beauty".
